Here we are -- 24 hours later -- "Error 503 -- Service unavailable".
Apologies for the delay, folks - please see Selena's post on the blog. Most issues should be fixed now, and work is ongoing. Thanks for bearing with us.
Can you guys please fix things? Many sets will not download and others you cant even view pictures been doing this for at least a day.
Here it is almost 3 pm, PDT, Saturday, 14 May, and none of today's ZIP files will download. Notice it's been several hours since this was first noted here. Hope things get cleared up overnight. Duplicate 2.
Very nice debut of a beautiful woman I hope to see more of on this site!
Unable to download zip files -- WHY ??
Dreadnought, I suspect the recent tech troubles we've been experiencing here at MA have to do with the launch of the new "MetArtX" site. I could be wrong but I suspect they use the same computers/servers (sorry, I'm even less network savvy than I am computer savvy, and that ain't much) for the entire "network" of MA sites, so when they launch a new site, the "bugs" in the new site are shared throughout the entire network. I have a subscription that covers 11 network sites, and I've been having these annoying problems to one degree or another on all sites since the day after they launched the new site.
I know a lot of folks here will be unhappy to hear this, but the beta site has been almost completely free of these technical issues over the past few days. Like most, I prefer the "classic" site, but I have a feeling MET's going to *need* to make the permanent switch to the new design if these problems continue. Which is a shame, because it's not finished.
You're probably right that MetArtX is adding weight to the servers. One way to remedy that would be to find a way to take some weight off, and that might be the old MET.
I'm just speculating here, though. I could be completely wrong.
Ack! Ptttttttthppppttttttt!!!!!! If they get rid of the old MA they just might be getting rid of me too.
The new Beta site design is great for most of the other sites they converted to it, because it actually adds to the features they had before, like VT, like EA, like SA, like EB... but switching from "MA Classic" to "Beta MA" is like chopping off an arm and a leg. So many nice features and capabilities have been amputated from the original.
Just so's U know... ever since the "new and improved" version of MetArt was launched, I've had continuing problems with both displaying individual set thumbnail images and, at times, continued and repeated inability to download Zip files.
When brought to the attention of the powers that be, I was told that it was entirely the fault of the browser I was using in combination with an only partially-supported operating system (Mac OS X 10.9).
This, my friends, is pure and unadulterated balderdash.
I am/was also a member of Arkisi's site (Eternal Desire) and continue to be a member of RylskyArt. The same software that drives MetArt also drives these other sites and I've had NO PROBLEMS with the ED or RA sites.
As to the web browser I'm using, I regularly run Chrome, Firefox, Safari, I.E. and AOL's own proprietary desktop browser for the Mac. Using ANY of these browsers on ED or RA provides me no problems... only here on M-A do the problems persist.
As prompted by the powers that be, I've tried their "alternate mirror" server with little or no success.
What I HAVE noticed are two distinct things: 1) ALL the problems began occurring with the release of the first buggy version of the "new" MetArt and 2) of the server sites that appear in a browser's "command line" whenever I see "protected.metart" I know that I'm going to have problems trying to download files - no matter what browser I'm using. The server address that begins "s3.amazonaws.com/" almost NEVER provides problems with the display/download of set images.
I've also noticed that several standard hypertext links under the "classic" MetArt no longer work, again irrespective of browser usage. Most noticeably the "BLOG" hypertext link at the top of the M-A members home page refuses to work.
Didn't mean to hijack this comment line but was wondering, what with all the server problems this past weekend rearing their ugly head(s), if anyone else had noticed the increased "buggy-ness" of the servers and/or software in general.
And yes, these issues HAVE been brought to M-A support, some of which received kind of rote replies - sincerely helpful and apologetic to be sure - but never really acknowledging or correcting any problems. And in some instances, e-mails remain unanswered or addressed.
Yes, their servers at this point are heavily overloaded driving all these sites and any "improvements" in site operation can only be marginal at best.
Anyone have any similar "problems"?
I'm fortunate than I only very occasionally have problems with the site, classic or beta, computer or tablet. I'm on a Windows 10 machine and an Android tablet, both using Chrome, so maybe I'm lucky that way.
The beta site, for its many faults, looks good and loads quickly on the tablet. I have a feeling that's what's driving the initiative for a redesign, making a better mobile experience. Personally, I would prefer it if they left classic as a "desktop" version and the beta as a "mobile" version, but having a single site design that fits both needs is a good idea on the surface. Just not 100% the beta quite fits that need, though.
Personally, I've been trying to use the beta more often so it won't be too much of a shock when the big switch comes. I think I'm getting close to actually liking it, though it still has too many problems with the comment section for me to make the permanent switch.
Hi folks, sorry to duplicate post, gotta get in while I can... and sorry for the late response, I am on vacation up a mountain with no internet! Please rest assured the technical guys are working tirelessly to fix this weekend's issues, and our customer care team will be following up while I'm away. Thanks for your patience.
Now as promised or threatened depending on your view here is my follow ups to my earlier post. Yesterday on Izabel I raised questions again about the rating of models, and after Dark Storm made a suggestion as to how they rank models with the same two digit score (9.18 in this case) I said I would run the data and see if his idea held up. It fell apart almost immediately. Today bibblefuss has raised the recurring remark that I am well aware of the it is a question of rounding. In truth they do not give us enough data to prove or disprove this theory. But right now something else is happening so let me explain my concerns. BTW as of today we know have one more model tied at 9.18 ( Janah's Rating: 9.18 out of 10 (621 Votes)) and she was put in front of Jeff Milton who has 3581 ratings. I spent some time running the data on all 44 models tied at 9.18 and several things showed up. The most telling was when you looked at their “Last Week” rating at the top right of their pages. As an example Katie who shows as #2 “LW” and Nikia who shows as #3 “LW” now show as #11 and #21 respectfully. It turms out my work on the 50+ allowed me to check ratings of 4 models at the time I prepared their stats for Rose, and se what I found.
Lets start with Divina right about her last appearance on March 11th I had reviewed her stats at that time here were her numbers. Score 9.22 with 6726 ratings. Yes she is #1 as of today
but now shows as 9.20 with 6908 ratings. How do you drop .02 when your last set drew a 9.35 rating. Did all 182 new voters give her less than a 9.00 which to make it work stat wise they must have. Our current #2 was also in the 50+ and thus I also have here stats. They are even more stunning since I ran her stats only 42 more votes have been entered but to drop from her 9.22 rating at the time to 9.18 those vores had to average less than 6.00. (NO WAY) Something is fishy as my Dad said. (MHRIP)
Another interesting factoid is between Classic and Beta Mia Sollis has lost 2 positions, (Maybe?) On Beta she sits at #23 and on Classic #21. (Go figure!)
I realize most members have their person preference and stick to only one of the two options Beta vs Classic but ever since Beta began the Last Week, Last Month, This Year I have questioned just what they mean, with absolutely no response. In fact I got in trouble for even asking. Some of you may remember the problem we had getting an answer when another stat nerd discover “missing” votes and Rose finally got us an answer. IMO it is about time that the members get some answers as to what is going on now! “News” had died, but Rose could get a Blog post with the answers, if they will even share with her. Obviously something is going on since the “Last Week #’s” for the current top fourteen are as follows #1 = #7, #2 = #9, #3 = #40, #4 = Non Given, #5 = #93, #6 = #20, #7 = #59, #8 = 23, #9 = #56, #10 = #8, #11 = #2 , #12 = #96, #13 = 102, & #15 = #144. How can you possible jump from over 100 to the top. In the case of Grace C she has not even had a set published since October 2013.
Again my only “bitch” is if they had a need to revamp the scoring on the models then we should have some notice of it occurring and not this confusion and speculation of how they are doing it, including the breaking of ties..
BTW today is a real milestone in that we know have had 3200 different models appear on MetArt, Ironically our list of 50+ models is essentially the top 1%. I hope you all are enjoying Rose’s effort to honor them in her Blog for MetArt.
Regarding your question "How can you possible jump from over 100 to the top."
IF as someone pointed out above, they are taking into account multiple data sources: i.e. not ONLY members' ratings, BUT ALSO number of views, number of "favorites," etc. etc. If you only rate on one data point, the ratings will be fairly straightforward: introduce a second variable, things start to get a little interesting: add another variable and things start to look funny or suspicious when they aren't.
It's just a matter of us not being let in on all the different data sets they use to calculate these rankings, IMHO.
As some 19th century American said: "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics". Personally, I pay no attention whatsoever to the rating system since it isn't really rigorous (as you just pointed out). As long as no serious decisions are made by management based on this whimsy I'll keep ignoring it. I think the idea of comparing one model against another is simply bizarre. What's next? Comparing breast sizes (Sofi A vs. Narkiss)? Or vulvas? (If Dominika C is a 10, what number is Nikia?) Ridiculous! These are individuals, women who chose erotic art as a means of expression (and livelihood), not objects to be compared. Sure, I like looking at them naked, and some I like looking at more than others. But I approach each one individually, not in comparison to another. Comparisons are odious.
Appreciate you working the numbers, Frank. Somebody needs to point out that the emperor has no clothes. Hope your head doesn't hurt too much from ramming it repeatedly against this brick wall.
Deservedly high marks for a very refreshing new face!
First I will give Koenart & Alina their due. At 7 hours in the set sits at 9.11 on the classic page with an unknown # of ratings. On “Beta” it still shows as 9.42 but only 19 ratings. Both excellent scores as they deserve IMO. Alina is going to be another Latvian star for Koenart again IMO. On her debut personal page Alina already has 1712 views and 70 follows with a score of 9.37 based on 122 ratings. Thus a great start. If it holds she should be # 1 tomorrow.
Three days after the initial posting, Alina is down to an 8.96 rating (in classic). No way should she be less than a 9.
MetArt has lots of beautiful models but every once in a while you see one that really grabs you, and Alina is one of those babes. She just has that rare combination of beauty and sex appeal that makes you want to get closer to her.
Welcome lovely Alina. We hope for many more visits from you. You are incredible.
Yummy, yummy, yummy!
It's as much about the body as it is about the mind. Alina enjoys her nudity and her act of pure sexual provocation oh so much! And she does so with a great variety of moods and poses.
Take the pics where she sticks her tongue out (#76 and #96).
#76 is all about: "You have a look, but if you could have a taste...";
While #96 is more about: "I love posing nude and I stick out my tongue to anyone who disapproves that!"
Fun, freedom, joy... A talented girl must not be naked to express all those things, but when naked the sex-factor is the cherry on top. Have lot's of naked fun Alina!
Images not downloadable!
I love Alina's big hazel eyes, it's like they jump off the screen. It would be interesting to know if this was actually her very first time posting nude, she seems a little unsure of herself at the beginning and gains poise and confidence throughout the set, right up until she makes a funny face in photo #96.
Another beauty to add to the stellar lineup of debut sets in May 2016. Welcome to MET!
Wow... what a flawless beauty we have here... Welcome home baby... thanks for excellent debut with excellent pictures.
Sweet, stunning and a real refreshing beauty, more , more!
incredible beautyfull Girl
Well, I think Alina is quite lovely and she's getting my 10 simply for that, even though I'm curious to see what happens with swplf2's experiment. I hope she gets plenty of 10s either way, she should come back soon and often to brighten our days. (:
While I appreciate what swplf2 is trying to do, and I hope it works in a way that satisfies him, I'm still puzzled as to why people are so concerned about the model ratings. I'm sure MET uses reliable metrics like page views and image and zip downloads to measure the true success of a set or model. Maybe the ratings reflect that, but I'd be willing to bet they don't. I have a lot of personal favorites in the 400-500 range, and I have a feeling we'll still be seeing new sets from them in the future.
At the moment, this set has been voted on 144 times, and viewed 1712 times. It wouldn't be smart of MET were to base everything solely on the ratings of less than 10% of the viewers.
I hope my overly long post above explains my concern. I had stayed totally quite about these issues
for over a year. It was my research for the 50+ which brought me back to dealing with the issues.
I love MetArt and I to have many models that I feel helped take MetArt to its position of being the #1 Nude site on the Net. One such APF, and others who have retired now, and this is what prompted me to pitch the top 1% by appearances which resulted in the 50+ club. As we move up the list I hope some of your favorites appear and am willing to bet you they do.
She is a very pretty young lady and definitely Met class! 10+
In fact IMO best set of the night!
Yet another stunning MA debut. Alina is a definite keeper.
Wow. Amazing eyes. I can't get enough.
What a lovely, petite little green-eyed cutie! I'm hoping to see much more of you, Alina, when the site speeds up a little :)... just kidding, I'm sure technical issues will abate and I look forward to your next visit :)
I thought things were a bit slow I thought it was my Osteoarthritis.
Can't get any of today's sets to fully load. They keep getting stuck "Waiting for static.metart.com..."
Same, can't display them fully, and I can't download the zip files. They're having problems today. Quite frustrating, Met-Art, since this is just the time of evening (in my time zone) that I'm able to find time to visit this site.
DeeDee, if you are using the classic view, go to the new format just long enough to DL the zip files. Worked for me.
That worked for me, thanks.
Apologies for today's issues, the technical wizards are working on it...
Rose please don't make us watch Ronin's amatures,(or however you spell that) I at least Prefer a pro model and artist that know something about what they are doing. Please note I speak ONLY to Rose
Oooops that and should be or
To whom it may concern in this case ROSE. The new architecture of the Met site is not very compatable with Classic Met-Art, which is based on Windows. The Beta version of Met-Art has always struck me as an over-complex architecture dreamed up by a bunch of 10 year olds proving how superior they are,an opinion that I have tried to express to the Lovely Support Staff before. Appearently, the idea of a simple, clean, easy to use site either has not struck the powers that be at Met-Art, or bounced off if it did. In either case I have NO doubt that everyone at the LSS is concerned with what they consider a real problem. The fact that they gave themselves the problem has not arisen.
Capt. Jim, I hope you don't mind if I reply, since I am not Rose (What's with this Rose only stuff?).
I agree, I never liked the Beta site format, mainly because it appears to be designed for high-res 16:9 monitors, not 15" laptops. They had too much time invested in the Beta format to trash it, but because so many did not like it, they decided to keep the classic view as a user preference option (thankfully). So now, when they program the web pages for the next day, they have two templates to use and have to do everything twice. That's twice the possibility for an error when the pages load and go live. Yes, they gave themselves the problem.
Before I forget again,I gave everyone a 10++++++ I sure hope everyone Got paid so that Met did SOMSTHING for these people.
Yeah, c'mon guys. Get it right. This IS your job, after all. You DO charge for this, don't you?
Ok lets have some fun today! We have this new model today so let us see if we can make her the #1 Model on MetArt at least for a day. It is obvious that something strange is going on with the rating when yesterday we had 44 models with the identical 9.18 score and the Top Score was only a 9.20. Everyone please give her a 10 and lets see just how high we can get her appear on the TOP Model list. So in addition to giving a score to the set as you wish go to her "home" page and give her a 10 and lets see what happens. Later today I will post a follow up to what I promised yesterday about the 44 same score in my comment about Izabel and Dark Storms reply, which made total sense. But is not what I found when I ran the date.
What I found will be stunning, and make almost no sense. So lets play...
I voted a 10 before I scrolled down to read the comments. There ya go!
I do *not* give out tens very often, especially to models with shaved pubic areas. I am a "naturalist".
I don't know why, but I seem to have a liking for Latvian girls.
...and Polish girls, Lithuanian girls, ...
I did that
Well, I voted a 10 on both Alina and her Presenting. She's gorgeous!
"...we had 44 models with the identical 9.18 score..."
By now I would've hoped you understood that they're not "identical". They may all be displayed as 9.18, but are actually stored in the system with more digits. So, a model with a 9.183258 gets listed ahead of one with 9.1811326.
I'm sure he knows that.
He does, Kilroy, I've pointed that out to him many times, swplf2 hears what he wants to hear when he wants to hear it... (;
I suspect the reason he doesn't listen to me when I suggest this logical answer to him is that he wants to hear it straight from the horse's mouth, not from other members' mouths.
swplf - If you want real weirdness, I just switched to Alina's profile to vote. The score was 9.40. I gave her a 10 and the score went down to 9.39.
Somethin' ain't right in Metville.
The way the scoring goes drives me crazy. I think it has to do with server load at the time you vote and I may be updating several votes at the same time. It seems it is forever trying to blow my mind. I mean I give a model a 10 and her score drops which we all know can't happen or I will give a poor score and the rating goes up or doesn't change at all.
Dark Storm, that happens frequently. What happens is between the time you open the page to vote on it and the time you enter your vote, others have entered their votes as well, high and low, and what you see after your vote loads is the total result of everyone's vote since you originally opened the page. Other people have complained about it before, but that's just because people are voting sometimes simultaneously.
Thanks for the explanation as I have had it happen numerous times. This is a great start for this lovely and she had a lot of great poses. I gave her a 10 because I feel she is a ten.
DS, fer_realz is correct. It happens all the time to me, and it has to do with page refresh. That's also why you might see a different score on the monthly updates page than from the sets' page. They have different refresh rates.
Seems someone (or more than one) is being a party pooper. Score is at 9.50 at the moment.
